Ohlone Family Connection, August 2022

Hello Ohlone Community,

Congratulations to everyone for finishing a FULL week of school! I'm hopeful that your child has had a smooth start getting to know new classmates and reconnecting with friends. We could feel the community's energy and collective excitement for the new school year at the Farm Opening Ceremonies, Principal's Tea, Ohlone 101 and Back-to-School Night. It's been a great start!

Please review some important information:

*TOMORROW* Saturday, August 20th - First Farm Workday, 9am-1pm Sign up here! A huge thank you to those who have signed up! There are 39 open spots waiting for you. Come spend an hour working alongside other Ohlone families in our beautiful outdoor classroom! We appreciate any help you can give! No experience necessary! Ohlone students can come with their parent(s) to the Farm Workday.

Monday, August 22nd - NO SCHOOL. Our teachers and staff will be attending Professional Development sessions throughout our district. There is NO SCHOOL for students. Please check with your before/after school childcare providers if you need childcare and plan accordingly.

Thursday, August 25 - Back-to-School Picnic, 5:30-7:00p. Join us outside for a fun evening with our community. There will be music and great company! Please bring your own picnic and a blanket to sit on.

Healthy Attendance - In order for our students to be successful learners, they must be in school if they are not sick. Parents/guardians can help us out by ensuring students get plenty of sleep and stick to bedtime and morning routines. School starts promptly at 8:15 am each day. If students arrive after the bell, they need to check in at the front office and get a tardy slip. The beginning of the school year is a great time to review and establish helpful and healthy habits our children can continue to build upon as they grow. Finally, please report any positive Covid results to This email address should also be used to report tardies and absences.

School Safety - Thank you, parents/guardians, for being extra attentive during morning drop off and afternoon pick up. Please remember to use the crosswalks at the front of the school instead of crossing between cars in the parking lot. Additionally, please stay in your car in the pickup/drop off line. If you plan to leave your car, please find a parking spot. Your attention to these safety details help everyone in the community.

Thank you for reading!

Stay well,

Elsa Chen
